A defiant Harry Maguire insists that he is part of Manchester United’s future and is ready to win silverware in 2024/25.

  • Believes that he is a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s plans
  • Gunning for glory in the new season

Maguire had an injury-stricken 2023-24 campaign which restricted him to 22 Premier League appearances. However, the centre-back showed signs of recovering his best form in the latter part of the campaign and is now looking forward to building on that in the new season.

Maguire revealed that he has been assured of his role by the club and dispelled any doubts about his commitment to the team.

“Unless the club tell me I’m up for sale or I’m not wanted there anymore,” Maguire stated emphatically in an interview with Sky Sports.

“Everything I’ve heard and the action I’ve been shown from the club, I’m part of the future and it is time to crack on and make this club successful again, challenging for the big trophies.”

Maguire suffered a muscle injury in the business end of the last season which forced him to sit out the FA Cup final and also missed a berth in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. The defender battled through adversity and went on to describe the past few months as the toughest of his career.

“It was a real tough moment in my career. It was probably the toughest moment in my career to date,” he said.

“To get myself into a position where all year I’ve worked hard to play at the end of the season and to play in these big games, cup finals and then to go to the Euros and try to win the tournament for my country. I felt like I got myself in a great position physically and mentally to go and perform at the highest level, and to face the setback I did with the injury, it was a real tough moment for me.”

Maguire has travelled to the United States for pre-season and will be looking to impress Ten Hag when the Red Devils play against Arsenal on Saturday at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
